Steve Reich, Phillip Glass and Terry Riley are all 20th century music composers. 20th century music is known for a technique called phasing, which is a compositional technique in which a repetitive musical phrase is played on two or more instruments at different tempos. This concert poster series illustrates 20th century music with layers of patterns and wave shapes. Phasing is visualized with the repetitive dot, line and chevron patterns and the layered shapes that form new patterns.
